It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged so I will try to do a quick recap of what I’ve been up to so far this summer. It’s summer to us whenever the kids get out of school.
I am currently on Day 35 of the Beachbody 80 Day Obsession workouts. It has been a great strength training program and I am seeing great results. Here is my before picture on the left when I started 80 Day Obsession May 7. The picture on the right is when I wrapped up Phase 1 (Days 1-26) taken on June 10, a little over a month doing the workouts. I see a subtle difference!

And the back
I can definitely tell the booty has lifted thanks to all the lower body workouts with resistance bands. My main goal for this program is to simply gain muscle and get stronger physically for another round of marathon training. I only logged 30 miles in May and so far about 35 for this month. It’s been nice doing something other than running since I ran so many races last fall, winter, and spring.
I had awesome news a couple weeks ago. I was chosen to be an OnYourMarQ Ambassador. If you have not checked out their running gear, please stop by their Instagram and check it out! If you place an order, use my code KATIE15 for 15% off! Here are some of the shirts they have and yes, I’ve already bought more tanks!!
One of my favorites. It is super soft!
This one made it to the website. I love this one because it’s coffee, Cardio, and kids are my life!
I just got this one in and love what it says. I love how this brand empowers us as women and mothers who love to run!
Unfortunately, I had another heart issue a couple of weeks ago. I went to a new doctor in Birmingham who specializes in Mitral Valve Prolapse. She ran all the necessary tests such as an echocardiogram and stress test. Everything came back just fine. She believed I had a reaction to Macrobid antibiotics I was taking for a UTI. My body is super sensitive to pretty much any kind of medication. I certainly hope and pray my heart doesn’t get out of rhythm like that again. I also need to learn how to manage stress a little better. The best part of the trip was hubby and I meeting up with Tricia @misssippipiddlin and her husband Greg for dinner on the way to Birmingham, then Wednesday meeting up with my Princess friend Brittney after my doctor appointment. Brittney has planned my two Disney Princess weekend trips and one family Disney trip! Dinner with Tricia and Greg at Weidmann’s in Meridian, MS!
Brittney and I met at Steel City Pops for a dark chocolate cheesecake pop!!
I also got to go shop at Lululemon so our Birmingham trip actually turned out to be pretty fun!
I have also been invited to run the Marine Corps Marathon with two other Mississippi ladies! After good news at the heart doctor, I registered for MCM to run for the Wounded Warriors Charity. I have even booked my flight! I can’t believe I’m actually going. Official training would start this week, but I only plan on running three days a week and slowly building up mileage. It’s hotter than hades down south right now, but I know I can do it. When I trained for Shamrock, my longest run was 18 miles and I PR’d. For me, less is more and I don’t put a lot of pressure on myself marathon training. And that’s about it! So many exciting things are happening and I could not be happier! Running the Marine Corps Marathon will be a dream come true and it’s an honor to run for our Wounded veterans. How about you? Are you getting ready to train for anything in particular? Is it hotter than hades where you live?? I am linking up with Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap!
Congrats on getting a bib for MCM! That is one marathon I’d love to run. Glad your visit to the cardiologist turned out well. That has to be a relief.
Holly and I had those Steel City Pops last summer at a race we ran when I visited her. So yum!!!!

wow Katie i can see a difference too – way to go with your challenge! I’m sorry to hear about the heart issue though, but so nice you got to see friends! I miss Tricia’s blog! Next time you see her tell her I said hi!
Those tops are really cute from on your Marq! congrats on becoming an ambassador! and also with MCM! I just started training for the Warsaw Marathon (I’m in week 3 of 16 now) and I’m only running 3 days a week too! I’ve learned that I need more x-training and more rest to have successful runs. And I’m not running for speed or a BQ. I’m just running for me. That makes a huge difference if you ask me!

Great job keeping up with the 80 Day Obsession. I’m so glad you received good news from the heart specialist. Did she give you any tips or advice on keeping the MVP at bay? Congrats on your ambassadorship with OnYourMarq. They have some really cute tees. I haven’t seen Tricia in a while. I’m super jealous of your dinner. Thanks for linking!

MCM is going to be amazing for you! Congratulations on getting that bib!
I hope you are able to get some answers regarding your heart. That must be so scary to deal with, especially when you’re not sure what’s going on. I understand all about the hot summers. We are barely hanging on to our pace it’s so brutally hot, but it’s ok. We are doing our miles and having as much fun as we can.
