Weekly Recap—Hey May!

A little behind on my blogging because we are in the midst of a busy month! My friend Jodi, @my.kind.of.fit, and I decided to start the 80 Day Obsession workout May 7 together so we could hold each other accountable. She suggested I start with “A Little Obsessed” the week before so I could get an idea of what the workouts would be like. I ordered slides and resistance bands from Amazon and paid the $99 fee to get the Beachbody on Demand for a year. I’m not training for anything and I’ve been really burned out on running lately. I raced a lot more than I usually do in winter and spring plus I ran a marathon for the first time in 3 years. I get it. Time to take a break and try something new!

Day One A Little Obsessed–Total Body Core This is pretty much how I felt after that workout and it was only 30 minutes. Learning how to use the resistance bands!

Day 2–Three Mile Run plus Booty Workout I was really excited about this run because I ran 3 miles in under 28 minutes! I had a 5k race coming up Sunday and wanted to see what I could do.

Day 3-Triple AAA Arms, Abs, A$$

I lifted weights.Did all the pushups. Learned to use the band to do ab work.

Day 4–Cardio Core This was a pretty fun workout and I burned almost 200 calories in under 30 minutes. It’s more of a HIIT workout with core exercises using slides in between.

Day 5–skipped leg day and ran 3 miles Even faster than my three miler on Tuesday! Woo hoo!! I also started eating clean. Not to lose weight, but to feel better. After all the palpitations I had a few weeks ago, I think this is a great way to help keep them away. I made stuffed peppers with ground turkey, Italian tomatoes, brown rice and cheese. Pretty good!

My daughter also had her very first 8th grade Spring Formal last Friday night. She was so beautiful and had a great time with her friends! Saturday–Much needed rest day

Sunday--St. Jude Team Run 4 the Kids 5k

I may Recap this race in a separate post. I was super nervous about this race because it was at 2 o’clock in the afternoon and the temps were over 80 degrees. I’m so thankful my family went with me. My husband and oldest daughter ran the 5k and Cayne ran the fun run. Addy was our cheerleader. We all placed in our age groups! Medal pics! All 5 of us. Did I mention it was HOT?? I’m so thankful we all finished safely.

Now I’m caught up! Have you ever run a race at 2 PM? Hope y’all are having a great week!

  1. I love that youre doing the 80 day obsession! It is such a great program! I loved it! I’ve moved back to Max30 now though. The 80 day workouts were a bit too long for me when I am training for a race. And your daughter’s dress was gorgeous. Such a pretty girl!

  2. I ran track and cross country in high school so most of our races were around 2:30-3:00 for starting times. I adjusted running at that time and still love a good afternoon run, but it is much easier to race in the mornings when it’s a little cooler.

  3. I’m so surprised that y’all would have a race at 2 in the afternoon when it’s so stinkin’ hot down there! LOL! Good for you guys, running it and placing in your age groups!

  4. Your daughter looks so beautiful in her formal dress! And I love that all of you did that race together – so fun. My son is only 3 but I’m looking forward to when he can do a 5K with us at some point in the future.
